Scorpio New Moon Insights
We are coming up on a Powerful and Transformative New Moon on November 13th, 2023. The Scorpion itself is hard-shelled, deadly, and ready to fight - till the end.
Scorpio has incredible depth, strong intuition, and a need to get to the bottom of things, sometimes to the point of obsession. Unwavering loyalty, passion, and a powerful sixth sense come with Scorpio’s domain. A Scorpio will travel through ultimate fires – and then be reborn as the Phoenix – rising through the ashes. Regeneration is the name of the game for Scorpio.
You might wonder: “How can one harness the energy of a Scorpio New Moon?” As with every New Moon, we are beginning a cycle, a month, a year, or a two-and-a-half-year cycle, depending on how you want to track the Moon or Moon Families.
I tend to follow Astrologer Dietrich Pessin’s two-and-a-half-year Moon Family Theory, as it is exact showing the manifestations at a certain degree, starting with the New Moon, this month at 20 degrees Scorpio, followed by the First Quarter Moon nine months later (August 12th, 2024), the Full Moon 18 months from now (May 12th, 2025), and Last Quarter Moon two years and three months from now (Feb 9th, 2026). These Moon Family cycles are especially significant if you have a personal planet or important degree in the Moon Family, being affected by the Lunar cycle: 19°- 23° Scorpio.
During the New Moon we plan and plant seeds deep in our (sub)consciousness. In Scorpio this means picking your alliances, acknowledging where your loyalty lies, and planning upcoming ventures with precision and intuition. Perhaps this New Moon is the beginning of a new secret society, a mystery school, or a psychology class – or maybe it is the beginning of a new committed relationship, an agreement, or a secret contract. Depending on where the Scorpio New Moon lands in your own Astrological Natal Chart, you can harness the energies at play, and plan accordingly your personal new Scorpionic Adventure.

The extreme force with this upcoming New Moon has to do with the conjunction to Mars in Scorpio, and the opposition to Uranus in Taurus. Mars, the Red Planet, also known as Ares, The Ruler of War, will have its exact conjunction with the Sun on November 18th , at 25 degrees Scorpio. This conjunction, already present during the New Moon, creates a Rebirth in how we Act, Fight and Assert Power over others.
We can only hope that the Powers in Charge, especially the ones waging war on innocent people, take on this opportunity to change their actions for the better. May Scorpio’s deep introspection provide the ability to Transform, like a Phoenix, and act with the power of Regeneration, rather than pure Scorpionic Destruction and need to Dominate.
The opposition from Uranus to the Mars-New Moon Conjunction, may bring about unforeseen accidents, but also the opportunity to change course, a sudden shift of values and actions, leading to Freedom for the People. Let us all pray for the latter!
Saturn, the ruler of Karma, is in Pisces, with a loose waxing square to the New Moon in Scorpio. Saturn stationed direct at 0° Pisces on November 4th, 2023, after having been retrograde since June 18th, 2023. For almost five months we have collectively struggled to set down foundations, roots and structures. In Pisces, it is difficult to lay down foundations, unless literally building bridges, waterways, or having focused on creating a foundation in one’s spiritual realm. Saturn’s waxing square to the New Moon suggests that there is much work ahead before things will get easier. Time delays, roadblocks, and doubt can all slow down our efforts, but with hard work, diligence, and a solid plan Saturn offers us the opportunity to rebuild foundations needed to move forward.
The sextile from Pluto in Capricorn to the New Moon and Mars in Scorpio offers us the opportunity to rebuild, if we can first let go of old structures and the authoritarian powers that no longer hold. This is where we as individuals (Mars) can assert our power to alter the actions of the authorities (Pluto in Capricorn), and a new path can emerge from the ashes of the Destruction.
Ceres, the Mother Asteroid and the Goddess of Harvest, is at 24 degrees Scorpio, and in conjunction to Mars and the New Moon. The way we relate to one another, Women, Mothers, and the Earth, is colored with Martian themes of aggression and sniper-like attacks. On the other hand, Mothers, Women and Protectors of the Land could assert themselves to fight for the Freedom of all peoples, bring humanitarian aid, and shake up the status quo!
Ceres and the New Moon is in trine to Neptune in Pisces highlighting the wishes for Peace, Empathy and Compassion to come forth during this new cycle. Venus in Libra also pushes for Peace, and Venus sextile Mercury in Sagittarius, suggests there is more optimism in communication on the Horizon.
